Richard Burmeister

Richard Burmeister (born 1860 in Hamburg, Germany, died 1944)〔 was a German-American composer and pianist active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Burmeister studied with Franz Liszt before embarking on his own career of playing, teaching and composing.
Burmeister was active in the musical scenes of Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden and Baltimore. Along with fellow composers Joseph Pache, Asger Hamerik, Fritz Finke and Otto Sutro, Burmeister played a sizeable role in the 1890s musical culture of the latter city.
